Stainless Steel 416 – Highest Machinability Free-Machining Martensitic Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel 416 achieves the highest machinability rating of any stainless steel grade through its sulfur addition. Unlike austenitic 303, it can be heat-treated for increased hardness and strength, making it suitable for pump shafts, gears, and valve bodies where both free-machining performance and moderate strength are required.
