Stainless Steel 17-4 PH
Stainless Steel 17-4 PH – Precipitation-Hardening Martensitic Stainless for Aerospace
Stainless Steel 17-4 PH is a precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel combining very high strength (up to 1310 MPa tensile) with moderate corrosion resistance. Heat-treatable across H900–H1150 conditions to tune the strength-toughness balance, it is ideal for aerospace fasteners, shafts, and structural fittings requiring stainless properties at high strength levels.
Key Properties
- Tensile Strength: 1310 MPa (H900)
- Yield Strength: 1170 MPa (H900)
- Hardness: 388 HB
- Density: 7.78 g/cm³
- Heat Treatment: H900 through H1150 conditions
- Composition: 17% Cr / 4% Ni
Common Applications
Aerospace fasteners, pump shafts, valve components, turbine parts, gears, and structural fittings requiring high strength in a corrosion-resistant stainless package. Certified to AMS 5643 / ASTM A564.
