Stainless Steel 15-5 PH
Stainless Steel 15-5 PH – Improved Toughness Precipitation-Hardening Stainless
Stainless Steel 15-5 PH is a precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel with improved transverse toughness and ductility versus 17-4 PH, due to its refined composition (15% Cr / 5% Ni). It provides high strength across H900–H1150 heat-treat conditions and is favored in aerospace and nuclear applications requiring reliable through-thickness mechanical properties.
Key Properties
- Tensile Strength: 1310 MPa
- Yield Strength: 1170 MPa
- Hardness: 388 HB
- Density: 7.78 g/cm³
- Key Advantage vs 17-4: Superior transverse toughness
- Composition: 15% Cr / 5% Ni
Common Applications
Aerospace structural components, nuclear reactor hardware, pump and valve bodies, and high-strength fittings. Certified to AMS 5659 / ASTM A564.
